11/20/2009 Afghan farmers cheer first apple exports to India
The first of an expected 400 tons of apples are shipped to India, marking a major milestone in the revitalization of Afghanistan’s once-vibrant agricultural sector.

10/3/2008 Chemonics partner wins U.N. award
Olam Nigeria wins a World Business and Development Award for its work to increase rice production — and boost farmer profits. Olam’s winning effort was achieved with the assistance of the USAID-funded MARKETS project, which works to expand economic opportunities for rural Nigerians by increasing productivity.

8/8/2008 Project breaks ground on $15 million agro-park, airport in Afghanistan
The Alternative Development Project launches construction of a the Bost Airfield and Agriculture Center in the country’s volatile Helmand Province. The center will help farmers to get their goods to international markets.

5/14/2008 Zambia anticorruption project takes home three Tellys
The Zambia Threshold Project has won three Telly Awards for video documentation of its work in anticorruption and business registration. The videos won for excellence in government relations documentation, editing, and cinematography.

2/29/2008 Nokia magazine features Philippine microfinance project
The Microenterprise Access to Banking Services program was featured in the January issue of Expanding Horizons, mobile-phone maker Nokia’s quarterly publication on new-growth markets. The article is about the Philippine Central Bank’s "exemplary" approach to mobile-phone banking regulation and the doors that regulation opened for the project.

12/10/2007 Jordan tourism project teams up with World Heritage Alliance
The Jordan Tourism Development Project has signed an agreement with the World Heritage Alliance for Sustainable Tourism to promote conservation of three World Heritage sites in Jordan. The Alliance is a joint project of the U.N Foundation and Expedia, Inc.
